does anyone know which sections will be playing each other in the first final ? and the section winner with the highest points gets a double chance is this correct.

It will be a final 4 draw like the old days on VFL footy.
The 4 section winners will be graded in the final four by points and then shots up.
Then 1v2 (winner goes to GF and wins promotion & loser goes to prelim final) 3v4 (winner goes into prelim final, loser is out), winner of prelim final goes into GF and wins promotion and loser is out.

In other words if a team happens to be in an easy section they are going to score more points then a team in a hard section. The team in the easy section gets rewarded for being in the easy section with a double chance. The more hard games you play in any form of bowls the less you will win the games by. The system is flawed and should be played in round robin format with all section winners having the chance to play each other. I cannot see how any seeding can happen when teams dont even play each other until the finals.

Here here major! Thats what a few on here have been saying. The nay sayers are the ones who have not been in this position before and don't realise this.

If not already, there should be a motion going before RVBA Council very soon on this issue. Obviously, if it were to get up, it would not be valid until next season.

Was the issue discussed at the last group meeting, or an update on any feedback received?

I have heard nothing since I put forward the motion.

It wasn't raised at the last meeting. The last I heard was that a motion would be drafted and sent to the Metro Pennant sub-committee(?) for discussion and forwarding to the council. Might be worth a call to the Secretary.

Well by your comments a few weeks ago that half our players would play in your 4th side u should win easily. Any chance for a wager? U r right our season is over if we lose. Not far away at the moment just a few players short.

I'll back MV because they will be at home and there will be slightly bigger stakes for them. They are both good sides and pretty vocal. 14/4 and +3shots is my tip.

i think it is interesting that rosamond are only 8 points ahead of clayton considering clayton have dropped a game ;)

What do u mean gremlin? If u beat a side 14-4 u have lost 10 points. 8 points behind with losing 1 more game would seem around the ball to me. How is that so interesting?

04-12-2007, 12:49 PM
because for memory we lost our game 16-2 im just saying even though rosamond are un-defeated its obvious we accumalate more rink wins.
it was just an observation dont read to much into it.

U have had 1 more rink win than them. That is huge gremlin.

Do understand that 14-4 win or loss is the same rink wins? So by losing a game u can still have the same rink wins as a team that wins. They have had actually 1 less rink win.

i still think its a good effort never the less

The only meaningful margin is the one between Clayton (140) and Altona (124). That's the difference between having the double chance or not.
I don't see the Rockets dropping any games in the run home, not with the team they have on the paddock and the quality of the section.

I think u had too much acid as a young fella. Clayton have lost 6 rinks Rosamond have lost 7 rinks. Clayton was supposed to be clearly the best team so i think u should be saying that it is a good effort by the Rockets. Your argument is about as good as GEM chances of staying In Premier League.

got no doubt that the rockets are going well.
but i think you were the one on acid if you cant see that we have had more rink wins with one loss to a team who is un-defeated

Do u understand for the last time if u lose 14-4 u have the same rink wins. U would think an undefeated side compared to one that has lost 1 game would be about 1-3 more rink wins but u r comparing a side that is full of Premier league bowlers state players vic champs aussie reps to a side that has 1 state player and about 5 guys who have played premier league b4 with only Zitter playing higher tha a 2nd.

Look you 2.
Enough is enough.
Rosamond 148 Points = (9wins = 90 points) (29rink wins = 58 points)
Clayton 140 Points = (8wins = 80 points) (30rink wins = 60 points)

It wasn't quite that dramatic, from what I hear. Still interesting, though!

Looking at that Shorty is was a bad decision for Keilor more than Moonee Valley. It almost wipes Keilor of any chance in the section if they did have any. With the Altona topside struggling it may impact on the 2nd side at some stage if players are being promoted or dropped.

Commie
17-12-2007, 01:52 PM
Yep, agree Knackers. Keilor are now basically three wins behind Altona2 (27 points takes three wins to peg back). You need to be a punter to make things happen in bowls when down the ladder and needing points. The Kelor of 1993-94 would have played, no matter what.

stu
17-12-2007, 02:23 PM
just to reiterate one last time, Keilor were ready, willing and able to play and were as annoyed as moonee valley (if not more so)

the team has been playing very well the last few weeks, big win over Armadale and knocked off Bundoora 2 on their plastic last week.
