      Metro Bowlers Arm Coaching Day Finalised

      BV Director Phil Gude who manages the Bowlers Arm programme for BV announced today a further Coaching Day, to be conducted in the Northern Gateway Region at Preston Reservoir Bowls Club Inc. on Sunday the 14th December. “We were very keen to bring Arm Coaching to this area of Melbourne, this fills this season’s arm coaching programme now with four days planned”.       Arm Coaching Module for Club Coaches

      The Bowlers Arm Coaches Group are working with the BV Coaching Chairman Graham Howard and BV’s Scott Nicholas to develop a training module for Club coaches to assist in the instruction of players moving to the Bowlers Arm. BV are very excited at this development. BV Director Phil Gude said “Arm Coaching is already having a positive effect on the improved standard of players available for State selection and this development will enhance the overall coaching offering greatly”. When developed the module will train accredited coaches in the use of an artificial arm and form part of the coaching pathway.
      Acting Chief Executive Peter Delaney said, “Graham Howard and his team have made a significant difference to the development and support of our Coaches with their new “can do” approach and this will further enhance Victoria’s Coaching leadership”.

      Breaking News

      Another Arm Event is being planned for Sunday the 7th December by Dromana Bowls Club Inc. Phil Gude said, “We understand the event will be the first Arm Bowler Pairs completion to offer 2/4/2 concept play”.       State Events

      Please note that there has been some confusion regarding the new State Mixed Pairs event added to the State Champions Week. The State Mixed Pairs is NOT a Champion of Champions event and is run as per the Conditions of Play provided to the Regions.

      Focus Groups

      Bowls Victoria will be holding a series of focus group forums throughout the State during August.
      We are inviting one member of each club (President, Secretary, Committee or Board member) to attend and share your views on the recent changes to the Bowls Victoria affiliation fee model and any effect this may have on your club.
      There are still have a number of vacancies available to attend the following focus groups:
      Wednesday, 20 August at Warracknabeal at 11.00 am
      Thursday, 21 August at Elmore BC at 11.00 am
      Friday, 22 August at Wangaratta BC at 11.00 am
      Tuesday, 26 August at Morwell Club BC at 11.00 am
      Wednesday, 27 August at Mordialloc BC at 6.30 pm
      Thursday, 28 August at Fawkner BC at 6.30 pm

      As places are strictly limited to 20 per session, on completion of applications we will advise you if you have successfully registered as one of the first twenty participants for each session.
      Only one official per club may register and you may attend only one session.
      Bowls Victoria will pay participants a fee of $30.00 for attending, to assist with off-setting any travel expenses incurred.
      No other expenses will be claimable from Bowls Victoria. Reimbursement details will be notified when advice of acceptance of attendance is confirmed.
      Sessions will be run by an independent facilitator and a detailed report will be provided to Bowls Victoria, including recommendations.
      We hope interested parties participate and share their views on this important matter to assist Bowls Victoria in formulating future policy.

      2014 Bowls Victoria International Day

      The 41st Bowls Victoria International Day will be conducted on Sunday 16 November 2014 at Mulgrave Country Club, cnr Wellington & Jells Road Wheelers Hill 3150. The venue is easily accessible off the Monash Freeway for those coming from the other side of Melbourne or regional Victoria.
      The entry fee is $100 per team ($25 per player), this cost covers morning tea, lunch, green fees and other associated costs. The field is limited to 42 teams which may be male, female, mixed or single. Players may wear their traditional countries dress as the BA Logo policy is relaxed for this day. Sides are encouraged to enter sides from their country of origin or ancestry.       Club Development Training Session are in Full Swing

      Four more regions began their sessions this weekend and were a great success.

      Metro evening sessions commence this week….at Altona North, Buckley Park, Highett and Bayswater Bowling Clubs.
      East Shepparton and Wangaratta sessions begin this coming weekend.
      If your club hasn’t yet registered do it straight away. Don’t miss out!
      Registration can be done on the Bowls Victoria website with a credit card or you can contact Pam at Sports Community on 59 736 404 and have an invoice sent to you.
      All clubs are strongly encouraged to send 3 participants to each of the 6 different sessions. Your registration cost is per club, not per person! You may choose to send different people to each session based on their role within your club. All for one registration cost.
      These sessions have been specifically designed for the needs of Victorian Bowls Clubs and are the first of their kind in the country.

      Umpiring Seminars

      Annual Umpiring Seminars will be held throughout the State in September.
      All Umpires, potential Measurers and Umpires and all bowlers, both new and experienced, are invited to attend.
      These seminars will provide information on proposed changes to the Laws, the role and equipment usage for Measurers and new officiating pathways for accreditation of Measurers, Markers and Umpires, that will come into effect 1 January 2015.
