Fitzroy Victoria Bowls & Sports Club – Everyone Welcome

As part of the lead up activities for the ‘Melbourne Roys’ and their challenge to this year’s Australian Premier League, the Club has come up with some novel ideas and promotions for increasing publicity for the team. The ‘Knock off the Roys’ challenge concept will see the trio of Dylan Fisher, Graeme Archer and Matt Flapper being put through a solid test against teams representing a Metropolitan All Stars Team, Regional All Stars Team, Under 18-All Stars Team and a Ladies All Star Team. Quite an all-round flavour of representative players you’d have to agree. Other activities that will be conducted include a “Toss the Blundstone Boot” closest to the jack. (Blundstone being a major sponsor of the Roys), a three legged race (wearing Blundstone Boots) and a “Beat the Oldie” (from Blue Hills Rise) closest to the jack. In what looks like being a fun night and some serious stuff as well, everyone is encouraged to make it along to Fitzroy Victoria Bowls and Sports Club, 578 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy North at 6.00pm on Friday 7 November. BV Regulations for Attire

Club Presidents are reminded of their responsibilities under BV Rule for Competition 1C(vii) for their Clubs compliance with the BV Regulations for Attire. A number of complaints have been made in recent times that clubs are totally disregarding both the BV Regulations for Attire and the BA Logo policy – both the Regulations/Policies are mandatory and are not optional.
A Club after having received a warning may face having to forfeit games on appeal to the BV Metro Pennant Committee or the respective Region or Division Controlling Body for Pennant in the Country Regions. The complaints on clothing have included wearing denim jeans, non-compliant caps, non-compliant vests, leather jacket, rubber thongs, tank-tops, Doc Martin boots, and non-compliant wet weather items.
The BV Regulations for Attire and the BA Logo policy are mandatory and not optional – Club Presidents it’s up to you to ensure compliance and please note that Umpires are not Uniform/Attire police and are not there to enforce Uniform/Attire matters – they are there to officiate on Bowls in respect of on-green Laws and Rules.

      Metro Pennant Results Check Forms

Clubs are reminded that their senior Side Manager is required to fill-in the speed of the green on the Pennant results form (top right hand corner) where provision is made (please also record which of your greens this speed represents if you have multiple greens). This information is used by the BV Metro Pennant Committee and the BV Greens Committee to monitor and ensure compliance with the recommended green speeds for Metro Pennant of between 13-17 seconds.

      Clearances

Clubs are reminded that no transferring player may be included in teams for Pennant at their new club unless BV has confirmed in writing (or by email) that their Clearance has been processed and approved. Penalties apply for breaches of this process and include a forfeit for each and every game the ineligible player(s) has participated. Please observe and comply with this requirement!

      Metro Pennant Fixture v3

Clubs are reminded that for the purposes of identifying the correct draw for Metropolitan Pennant, Clubs should be using v3 of the BV Metro Pennant Draw. Please ensure this v3 draw is the one your fixture book is operating on. Several Clubs have not reacted to the last changes emailed to clubs on 29 August 2014 and are showing up at the wrong venue or are not showing up to play at all. After discovering an email messaging error, BV has notified all Clubs affected in a re-send of this information today. Please ensure you are operating on the correct version 3 to avoid any discrepancies.
